Nick's apartment is at 104th St. on Central Park West looking east over the north end of Central Park. It's actually not his apartment; he's "apartment-sitting" for a friend. The friend has rented this apartment for the last 20-something years even though he now pretty much lives in Italy full-time. Since the apartment is rent-controlled, this means that this three-bedroom place on CPW rents for $500 per month. If you're not from New York City, you probably won't understand, but the upshot is that Nick has an incredibly sweet deal for living space. This kind of abuse of the rent-control laws is a longstanding NYC tradition, and those who do it really well are to be admired and envied. :)
